Tuesday, 12/3

Today students began reviewing for their Unit 3 test on the government. The test will be on Friday. The study guide for the Unit 3 test is below.

Unit 3: Government Study Guide
1.     Write the Preamble from memory.
Check how you did on the Preamble. Circle any words that you got wrong or write in missing words and circle them.
2.    Write the Preamble again from memory.
Check for mistakes again and circle them.
3.    Explain the problem with the Articles of Confederation and why the Founding Fathers needed to make a new Constitution.
4.    Who is the Father of the Constitution? Why do we call him that?
5.    What are the two names of the Houses of Congress?
6.    Define the three different branches and their duties
7.    Make a Venn diagram and compare and contrast the U.S. and UT constitutions (At least 3 in each circle).
8.    Copy the chart below and fill it out about the checks and balances
9.    Explain the Compromise of 1850 and why it is important for Utah's history
10. Explain the term 'Deseret' and its significance for Utah's history
11.   Make a chart to show the steps that a Bill must take to become a law.
12.  Make a pyramid showing the level of powers of government with the highest power at the top.
13.  Explain the difference between rights and responsibilities and then explain how they relate to each other.
14.  Write the Preamble again from memory.
15.  Check for mistakes and circle them.
