Today we continued with our lesson yesterday about why we study history and prepped to start practicing historical thinking.
We first began by sharing stories that we wrote on our "Snapshot Autobiography" pamphlets. After students shared, we had a group discussion that students took notes on for their participation points today. In the group discussion we asked these questions about our pamphlets:
1. Why did you (students) choose certain events to write about and not others? What made some events more important/memorable than others?
2. Was it difficult to remember? Why or why not? Do you think you got all the details included in your story? How come?
3. What types of evidence would be necessary to prove your event actually happened?
4. What happened when you asked someone about the event? Did they agree with your version? Did they remember something different?
5. How does this activity relate to history? How does understanding this activity help you study history?
HW:
1. Read pages that you picked up on the front table about "Reading Like a Historian". You only have to read these pages. Do not answer the questions yet.
2. Get Disclosure Document signed if you haven't already
